Open since 1882, the Sheldon Museum is the oldest community museum in the United States. The historic building features the Judd-Sheldon House, a residence built in 1829, that still retains the same period furnishings of yesteryear. The museum is located just east of the Middlebury College campus, in the heart of the city.
